Thinking of You

Thinking of You

Now that December is upon us the holidays are no doubt in full swing! The holidays are one of my most favorite times of the year because of all of the time with friends and family - the parties, the dinners, the afternoons where you just sit around and relax together. But, unfortunately, even though this is a fun time of year, for a lot of people the holidays bring pain, sad memories, and thoughts of those no longer on this earth to enjoy time together.

You may be one of those people who has experienced those emotions in the past, or may be experiencing them for the first time this year because 2018 brought heartache you weren't expecting (hand raised, right here). I want you to know that people truly do care and you are not alone in your thoughts and emotions. If looking at social media becomes too much because it makes you think you are the only one struggling with tough thoughts and memories, turn it off. Call a friend or another family member to talk. Be honest with those around you. Also try to remember that holidays are a reminder of the good in our lives and the hope we have in Jesus.

For those of you that have not yet experienced these emotions, I encourage you to reach out to your friends and family that you know may be struggling. Give them a call, send a text, take them a treat, or my favorite, of course, write a hand written note. I created the "Thinking of You" card for all those times that you don't necessarily know what to say, but just want someone to know you care about him or her.

After my brother-in-law, Jason, passed this May, Nick and I realized just how much it means when someone reaches out - whether you talked to them yesterday or 10 years ago. We decided then that we were not going to be passive in reaching out to others and caring for them as they experience hard things.

So, take care of those around you and let them know you are thinking about them, especially this holiday season. To help you out with that task, now through the end of 2018 the "Thinking of You" greeting card is 25% off with code SENDLOVE.

Go out and send some love, friends!

3 Things I Learned in My First Year of Business

This week marks the one year anniversary of the official launch of Ivy + Linen Design Co. and what a year it has been. I started out the year thinking I would mostly be a shop owner who does some custom work on the side and you know maybe eventually will get into weddings once I feel like I know what I'm doing. Oh how so much can change so quickly!
